EstateCanvas vs. Epilogue
Epilogue was founded by estate lawyers and covers ten provinces. We are $124 cheaper and keep a fuller record of your estate over time.
All claims about Epilogue are taken from their own public pages, checked on August 4, 2026. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
The honest bottom line
Epilogue is the closest competitor to us in philosophy — they also let you preview your documents before paying, which we think is the right way to sell a will. The differences that remain are price and scope: $15 against $139, and an estate record that keeps working after the will is signed. Against that, Epilogue was built by two former estate lawyers and covers seven more provinces than we do.
Where Epilogue wins
Yes, this section is on our website. A comparison that pretends the other side has nothing is not a comparison.
Founded and run by estate lawyers
Epilogue was started by two former estate lawyers, and that shows in their content and their document design. If having lawyers visibly at the helm is what makes you comfortable, that is a fair reason to choose them.
Ten provinces to our three
Epilogue serves Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, PEI and Quebec — including notarial wills for Quebec. We serve Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta.
Extras we do not have
Epilogue offers a Social Media Will, Canada Will Registry access valued at $40, notifications to executors and guardians, an option to have your will printed and posted to you, and a probate service. We do none of those today.
An institutional partnership and a charity programme
Epilogue works with RBC and runs a substantial programme for Canadian charities and legacy giving. If you want to leave a legacy gift and have your charity involved, they are set up for it and we are not.
Where EstateCanvas wins
$15 versus $139
Our single price is $29, currently $15 until October 31, 2026. Epilogue's entry plan is $139 as of August 2026.
Powers of attorney at no extra cost
Epilogue puts powers of attorney for property and personal care on their $199 tier. Ours are part of the single plan.
An estate ledger, not just an asset list
We track assets with fair market values and locations, liabilities with outstanding balances, and uploaded documents attached to the specific asset or liability they belong to. It is designed to be maintained for years, not filled in once.
Multi-party spaces with roles
Estate plans live in spaces you can invite people into as owner, admin, lawyer or viewer. Useful if a spouse, an adult child or a professional adviser needs their own access.
One plan, no tier to decode
Epilogue sells two tiers and we sell one. Everything we offer is in it.
