Terms of service
Last updated August 4, 2026
These terms govern your use of estatecanvas.ca and app.estatecanvas.ca (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
EstateCanvas is self-help software for preparing estate-planning documents — wills, powers of attorney and related records — for Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta, together with tools for maintaining a record of your estate. EstateCanvas is not a law firm and provides no legal advice; see our legal disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.
2. Your account and eligibility
You must be of an age at which you can validly make a will in your province, and legally capable of doing so. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter — the documents generated are only as correct as your answers — and for keeping your login secure.
3. Price and payment
The price per will is $29, discounted to$15 until October 31, 2026. Payment is required only when you approve your generated will; previewing is free. Prices are in Canadian dollars and may change prospectively — a change never affects documents you have already purchased. Updates to purchased documents are free.
4. Your responsibilities for legal effect
Generated documents have no legal effect until you execute them according to your province's law. You are responsible for reviewing your documents before approving them, executing them per the provided instructions, storing the originals, and keeping your documents current when your circumstances or the law change.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to prepare documents for another person as a business service, to violate any law, to interfere with the Service's operation, or to attempt unauthorised access to other users' data. Spaces and sharing features must only be used with people who consent to being added.
6. Your content
You own the information and documents you store in the Service. You grant us the licence needed to store, process and display them to you and to the people you explicitly share them with — nothing more. We do not sell your data.
7. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may modify features over time; if we discontinue the Service we will give reasonable notice and a means to export your documents.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including the consequences of a document being invalid due to information you provided or execution errors. Some provinces do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, and disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario.
